“Thank God For Fathers”

“…but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”

(Romans 8:15)

Greetings and praise the Lord! Wonderful greetings to the Saints of the Most High! I can declare like the Psalmist, “O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.” (Psalm 96:1) What awesome services we had last Sunday as we celebrated our 7th Pastoral Anniversary here at New Bethel! When we reflect back on all that God has done for us, we can declare that He’s been mighty good to Bethel and I’m ever grateful for the favor that he has shown us. Lady Angela and I, along with the girls, want to thank everyone for their gifts, cards, & kind gestures in helping us celebrate five years as pastor of New Bethel… but most of all your needed prayers! This has been an awesome experience and since ‘seven’ represents completion… I’m looking forward to the phase that God has for us here in Kansas City and the world!

Today we celebrate & honor our fathers, and thank God for the time, sacrifice, and unconditional love that they’ve given. You know that when you need protection, some advice, a guiding hand, that ride to the store, some needed discipline, and especially some money, fathers are there for you! It is both a privilege and blessing to be a father… as a giver of life as well as a steward of God. Fathers will be there when you need them and are committed for the long-term. Even when others can’t see the good in you, fathers will never give up on you. They are there to support and encourage you on to your goals.

Unfortunately, some may not have had their natural father in their life. Others may not even know who their natural father is. But there will be those that come into your life as a father & mentor for you. However, we are all encouraged and take comfort in the scripture that declares that God will be “a father to the fatherless.” (Psalm 68:5) When you respond to the Lord’s invitation for salvation, you become his son/daughter and have the privilege to now call on him, not to a stranger, but to your father!

Happy Father’s Day
You have a loving heart
And you’re quick to forgive
Always thinking of others
And always willing to give

You’re a loving person
Who can see only good
You always do the right thing
As you believe you should

A person such as you
Deserves a special award
And a recognition
From Jesus our Dear Lord
I Love You!

God’s blessing to all our fathers! We appreciate you! Angela and I are so glad to have been called to Bethel for such a time as this! Let us pray one for another. This is the “Year of Performance!”  —Pastor A. Glenn Brady
