Keep Your Eyes On The Prize

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize?” (1 Corinthians 9:24)

Oh my… did we not have a powerful Resurrection Sunday a couple of weeks ago? In fact the entire Consecration of Renewal was a blessing. From the powerful Daniel Fast, hearing “The Last 7 Words of Jesus,” our prayer times, daily scripture readings, the ‘Feet Washing’ service, the production “If I Could Speak” & the Holy Communion, and then finally the Resurrection Service, “The Greatest Rope-a-Dope of all Time!” Wow! The song writer says, “If it had not been for the Lord on my side… where would I be?” And that certainly expresses my sentiments because I owe God everything! We thank God for the move of the Spirit and I’m excited to know that God has declared that this is “The Year of Abundance!”

For many in high school and college, this is the beginning of the season where athletes compete to show their speed, agility, and demonstrate their prowess in track & field. They show their swiftness and athletic ability. Many hours of exercising and training will end up paying off for each athlete. But in addition to their physical skill, each track & field participant must also possess the mental keenness and concentrate on their objective. You see, they must stay focused at all times; especially those that are running in a race.

As each runner takes his position in the block, they must put their full attentiveness and concentration on when to go! They listen for the start of the gun. They cannot be distracted by outside factors! One second of distraction could cost them the race. The Apostle Paul made it very clear in his writings, “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize?” He goes on to say, “…So run, that ye may obtain.” (1 Corinthians 9:4)

That’s why you must “Keep Your Eyes on the Prize!” God has given you insight into your destiny. He has spoken into your spirit and we obtained new realms of fellowship with Him & each other. The love that we shared from our ‘Feet Washing’ service cannot die! The focus on your individual ministries must remain strong! The enemy is going to do his best to distract you from your goal and vision. But I encourage you to stay focused! Don’t let outside factors take your concentration from your spiritual goals & objective. Run the race to win!

Be determined to obtain the prize. What prize you ask? Paul also declared, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus!” (Philippians 3:14) There is a calling on your life… go after it! “Keep Your Eyes on the Prize!” My prayers are with you and I’m so humbled to serve as your shepherd. Be blessed!
