The New Bethel Church will be Fasting, Praying and Meditating from February 19th – March 2nd. The theme for this time of consecration is the “Fast for Clarity”. “As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said…” (Acts 13:2). It is essential that we have clarity of understanding what the Lord is directing for us in this “Year of Building.” Fasting, with prayer & meditation, allows us a clear channel to hear what God is speaking.

Fasting Schedule

Monday thru Saturday (Follow all instructions as medically prescribed.)

  • From 8am to 5pm – You May Eat As Normal
  • From 5pm to 8am – You can only drink: Water, 100% Juice, Coffee, Tea, or Fruit Smoothies

In addition no entertainment television or social media for two (2) days of the week.

The Sanctuary Will Be Open During Office Hours For Prayer & Meditation

“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work where unto I have called them.” (Acts 13:2)

Meditation

In the Old Testament there are two primary Hebrew words for meditation: Haga, which means to utter, groan, meditate, or ponder; and Sihach, which means to muse, rehearse in one’s mind, or contemplate. These words can also be translated as dwell, diligently consider, and heed.

Rick Warren, in The Purpose Driven Life (Zondervan), describes meditation this way: “Meditation is focused thinking. It takes serious effort. You select a verse and reflect on it over and over in your mind…if you know how to worry, you already know how to meditate”. Warren goes on to say, “No other habit can do more to transform your life and make you more like Jesus than daily reflection on Scripture.” If you look up all the times God speaks about meditation in the Bible, you will be amazed at the benefits He has promised to those who take the time to reflect on His Word throughout the day.
