Join the NBC Community Development Corporation and the New Bethel Church, along with several community partners for the 2018 Family 101 5K which includes a Free Community Block Party and Health Fair on Saturday, May 19th!

The NBC Community Development Corporation, a faith-based organization and the outreach arm of the New Bethel Church, will color the city and raise awareness for one of the silent issues that plague our communities, “Fetal & Infant Mortality”.  The NBCCDC has partnered with several organizations including, Children’s Mercy, Shawnee Mission Health, The University of Kansas, New Birth Company, Healthy Communities Wyandotte and the Community Health Council of Wyandotte County to ensure that every infant survives and thrives during their first year of life through a program called “Every Baby to 1”.

About 5K, Health Fair & Community Block Party

The NBCCDC is proud to present the 2018 Family 101 5K Community Health Fair and Block Party on Saturday, May 19th at the New Bethel Church (745 Walker Ave, Kansas City, KS). This year’s theme is “Let’s Move WYCO”.

 

The 5K Check-in starts at 7AM & the Race will begin at 8AM. Hosted by Darron “D” Story of Magic 107.3 and member of the famed 90’s group Low Key…participants can choose to either walk, run or bike ride. There will also be a 1-mile option. This year’s race will also include a “Kids Fun Run”, for those 10 and under. In addition, walkers, runners and bikers will have the option paint the city different colors to bring awareness to Fetal & Infant Mortality in our community.  Event Tee Shirts will be available for those who registered by Friday, May 11th. There is a $20 donation to participate in the 5K. Children 15 & under are FREE! Participants can register by visiting the website at www.nbccdc.org or on site before event.

 

The Community Health Fair will take place from 9AM to 2PM. Activities will include a free health fair in partnership with a multitude of local health care and community organizations. Testing and resources related to Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Biometrics, Prostate Cancer, Clinical Breast exams and even free Dental Exams.

 

The Community Block Party will kick off at 10AM to 3PM with a Lip Sync Battle and DJ Shep. This year we will host NFL Play 60 from 1130AM to 1230PM with Mr. KC Wolf! There will also be free Bike Giveaways, Inflatables, Carnival Games, Popcorn, Snow Cones, Cotton Candy, Basketball 3 Point Skills Competition, Kick Ball Competition, Dunk Tank, Hip Hop with Tara, Live Entertainment, Music & More!
